Miami’s Design District Gets Its Own Haute French Connection with a Louis Vuitton Store Opening

Oct 02, 2012 October 02, 2012

With a store façade to be marked by an original mural created by renowned graffiti artist Marquis Lewis, also known as RETNA, Louis Vuitton is all set to make its debut in Miami’s Design District. It seems that this French fashion house has already taken on the spirit of Miami by getting RETNA, known for his edgy yet stunning works of art, to create a masterpiece on the storefront. However, this store has been declared to be a temporary placeholder awaiting the unveiling of its permanent counterpart in the heart of Design District by 2014.

After closing down their Bal Harbour Shops showroom almost a year ago, Louis Vuitton’s Chapoulaud-Floquet felt that getting an early start in the Design District would fit in well with their pioneering spirit and expansion plans. He stated that communicating with a younger, trendy and more open clientele will make for quite an experience for the luxury brand. President and Chief Executive of LV North America, Valérie Chapoulaud-Floquet also went ahead to say that Miami is considered one of the top three markets in North America for most luxury brands, just behind New York and Los Angeles. With a press release stating October 19th as the store’s opening date, 170 N.E. 40th St. is already getting more than its fair share of attention.

In its signature style, Louis Vuitton will be creating an experiential retail environment in its Design District store. As the main entrance leads up to a “Travel Room”, shoppers will be welcomed by a wide range of luggage, trunks and travel-specific accessories. Also, while its ground floor will be a shopper’s paradise with men’s and women’s leather goods, shoes, eyewear, fashion jewelry and textiles, the second floor will feature a private salon.

Louis Vuitton is not the only luxury brand to consider Design District as a promising new market, Cartier and a host of other high-end fashion brands are looking forward to step in with temporary locations, until they can design and build bigger flagship stores. According to developer Craig Robins, you can expect 40 to 50 more luxury brands to take over Design District including Bulgari, Burberry, De Beers, Fendi, Tom Ford, Pucci, Zegna and Marc by Marc Jacobs, turning this Midtown neighborhood into an exciting destination for fashionistas.

With such exhilarating additions in store for Design District, it is safe to say that the neighborhood is all geared up to give stiff competition to shopping avenues such as Lincoln Road and the Bal Harbour Shops by offering a rare, but scintillating mix of art, design, food and music. Not to mention that the addition of such high-end stores will have quite a positive impact on real estate prices in the neighborhood. Especially condo residents in Midtown and Downtown developments such as Onyx, Cite, Paramount Bay, Gallery Art and the likes can now indulge in their LV fantasies closer home.

This is more so when you have an emotional condition or disability and part of your treatment involves having an Emotional Support Animal (ESA). The law applies to all condos, apartments, and rental homes.
