Defects at Luxury Condos Leads to Litigation by Miami Condo Board

The board of owners of luxury-condominium high-rise The Ivy, in downtown Miami, has sued the developers of the build and its general contractor for failure to deliver an end product that met all building codes and included multiple alleged structural flaws. The corporate entity of developer Key International, Miami River LLC, and contractor Moss & Associates are the primary defendants in the case. The pair are accused of providing deficient construction methods and resulting building code violations and are on the hook for $85,784 in damages, interest, and legal fees.
The deficiencies are reported to have only become apparent after the developer released the finished product. According to the official complaint, the developer broke contractual agreements by “designing, constructing, completing and delivering the Ivy to the association with defects and deficiencies.” Opened since 2008, the Ivy is a 45-story tower featuring over 500 residential units and multiple commercial spaces.
