New Tower Coming to Flagler Street with a “Secret Garden” on Top

A developer from Brooklyn has proposed a twin apartment tower complex on a currently standing surface parking lot in downtown Miami’s Flagler Street.
The new project, which is being called 54 West Flagler, would stand at 43-stories tall, with 391 apartment units. There will also be a ground-floor retail component, and a robotic parking garage with 185 parking spaces in it.
In a splash of uniqueness, 54 West Flagler will have a “secret garden” of hanging plants, which was inspired by the Perez Art Museum in Miami and the Sky Lounge in Sweetwater included in the project.
The units themselves will be relatively small, according to the revealed plans. Additionally, the project has already been criticized because the towers themselves are going to be squished onto a 17,000 square-foot lot, which will more than likely require a setback waiver. The Urban Development Review Board will look over 54 West Flagler’s plans in late March.
The developer is listed as Alliance Capital, the property is owned by Gutierrez Resnik Prop, LLC, and Kobi Karp is noted as the designing architect.
